Inclusive education

Life opportunities for young people

Across the UK, inequalities in education continue to limit opportunities for many young people.

Why this matters

Schools and community organisations are developing thoughtful, values-led approaches to inclusion, grounded in close relationships with children and their families.

There is a well-established understanding of what works in practice. The challenge is how to connect it, learn from it and use it to influence the wider system.

Our role is to strengthen connections, creating space for shared learning and collective action across education, health, social care and the third sector.

"Education should help every child develop their strengths and take their place in the world. Creating more inclusive schools is an important part of making that possible."

Our ambition

From isolated innovation to shared impact

We’re working towards a more connected, confident, inclusive education community, one that influences practice and policy from the ground up. By strengthening collaboration across the sector, we help organisations move from working alone to shaping systems together.

Stories of change and impact

From consultation to co-creation: lessons from responding to the Schools White Paper

A proposal raised during a wider conversation about young people’s wellbeing developed into a cross-sector response to the Schools White Paper and proposed SEND reforms. WFET brought organisations together to turn their different perspectives and practical experience into shared recommendations for a more inclusive education system.

How we're creating change

Bringing organisations together to strengthen inclusive practice across the wider system

Through the Inclusive Education Community, we bring organisations together around shared learning questions, creating trusted spaces for reflection, connection and collective problem-solving.

We work across sectors to highlight what is working and introduce people who might not otherwise meet. We’re already seeing stronger relationships and growing confidence to collaborate, with smaller charities feeling more visible and supported.

Alongside this, we fund early-stage projects and collaborations that grow from our work, pairing financial support with ongoing partnership, dialogue and shared reflection. Over time, we expect this approach to shape how inclusive practice is supported and resourced across the wider system.
